1. Feature Article: Be an Inspiration!
We're two weeks into 2009 and offering some resources not only to inspire you, but for you to be an inspiration for others. Let your light shine in 2009!
The Imp recently met a Pixie! Minna, is spreading a beacon for equality, peace and love around the world with her song "Love Shines". Help make this world a beautiful place where our global differences are celebrated rather than feared.
There's one quick and easy thing you can do to help Love Shine a little further around the world - touch others by sharing Minna's beautiful anthem.
Found this one in the local newspaper last week: Bev Moquin wanted to do something about the mounting frustration and negativity she was observing in those around her. So in 2006 she started Won-a-day blog to share daily wonders. Check it out: http://www.wonaday.wordpress.com
Molly Hamilton has written a song called "Make a Wonderful Day". She encourages folks to actively choose to make each day wonderful. I will give away a copy of her CD to the first two Imp Community members who consciously create a wonderful day and then give me permission to share their stories here. Email me bev@TheImpLady.com with "I've made a wonderful day" in the subject line. http://www.makeawonderfulday.com
"Oh, adds The Imp, "Molly would love to have you help put her 'Make a Wonderful Day' CD into every school."
(I met Molly Hamilton at the "Awakening Your Brilliance" event I attended in September. Contact me if you'd be interested in attending a future "Awakening Your Brilliance" event.)
If you have discovered inspirational websites, videos or books that you'd like to share with The Imp Community please send information to with "another inspiration" in the subject line.
"Yes", The Imp wraps it up here, "Let your light shine in 2009!"

2. Coaching Q&A: Why Can I Feel really Great About Myself Some Days And be Down on Myself Other Days?
We have a Guest Coach this issue, one of our own Imp Community members, Sandy Slovack, Registered Clinical Counsellor.
Shelley asks: I am someone who actually has pretty good self-esteem most of the time. What I’m hoping you can tell me, however, is why I can feel really great about myself some days and be down on myself on other days? Will I ever be able to just feel good all the time?
Sandy’s Answer: Great question, Shelley!! Experiencing “ups and downs” is normal. Life has ebbs and flows so that we can appreciate life through experiencing contrast. If you don’t feel low at times, you'd have nothing to compare feeling great with.
Many things may have an impact on your moods and your moods will change but it is possible to have an unwavering belief that you're ok, no matter what. It is possible, even during a difficult time, to remain solid in knowing that you are a worthwhile, lovable and valuable person. What you believe or how you think is different than how you feel.
Usually when I allow doubt to creep in about my abilities or self- worth it is because I am measuring my results using external criteria. What I mean by that is that I am listening to other peoples’ opinions or comparing myself to other things.
Self-esteem is a belief that I have about myself in my own core and it has nothing to do with the external world.
When I believe in my own value, external factors don’t have to have any bearing on whether I feel good about me. I may hear an opinion about me that differs from my opinion, for example, but when I am solid, that opinion will not have a negative affect on me that it may once have had. Getting strong in my new belief in my own value allows me to move forward in my life without holding back against opposing beliefs.
If you ever have those days when you allow yourself to feel less than worthwhile, ask yourself “what am I agreeing to think about myself that’s negative?” When you come up with the belief that lies beneath that, look for contrasting evidence; find times when your negative belief is NOT true. Focus on the positive evidence that you have value.
Check in with your internal messages. If someone calls you down, and you listen to that, it’s a good indicator that your self- esteem needs some care and attention. We are fundamentally valuable and lovable at our core. If you have lost that belief it is because, somewhere along the line, you believed someone else.
It’s never too late to remember your magnificence. You can do that permanently by identifying beliefs you have that do not serve you and changing them to positive, affirming beliefs.
The Imp is just bursting to jump in here and add,"Let Sandy show you how!"
Short notice but she has a free teleseminar called "Is Something Missing In Your Life? Your Self-Esteem Is the Key to Having it All!" on Monday January 19, 2009 from 6 to 7 p.m. Pacific time. Sign up at www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=2795965

3. News, Comments, Success Stories, Winners
Introducing Alan Pattinson, Member Profile: Hi, I'm the webmaster for Bev’s websites. There are a lot of “gems” in these newsletters! I find Bev’s constant unrelenting determination and persistence to be an inspiration. The wisdom she writes in the newsletters are core to my life’s beliefs.
What is IMPortant to me:
- Keeping my attitude positive no matter what, while still accept- ing and allowing emotions. - My family and friends – keeping in touch, supporting and being supported by them. - Being active physically – I love it when my body "sings” – which happens when I give it attention (exercise) and honour (good food) - Being active mentally – in my work and life I am constantly learning new things, programs, ways of thinking… - Being active spiritually – I believe (and it has been shown) in a higher power – some call it God, but I prefer to use the term “Universal Energy”. We are all part of it; it is within us; this energy can be access to our greater good; if we need guidance all we have to do is ask for it (and be open to receiving an answer!) - Realizing that "mistakes" are common to every human; the important part of doing a "mistake" is to LEARN A LESSON! I encourage every reader to submit their profile to this news- letter, as it is a valuable tool in reaffirming your beliefs and yourself!!!
Adds The Imp, "I want you to know Alan is wonderful to work with. If you are needing to get a website built or maintained check out his website." http://www.pacificwebsites.com

If you would like to be profoundly moved, ("That means shaken up a bit," whispers The Imp), I've recently read two books that have made a significant IMPact on me.
The first is "Radical Gratitude" by Mary Jo Leddy. It explores our discontent in a 'culture of money' and 'politics of progress' and addresses the issues from a spiritual/religious perspective. At the end of the book Mary Jo outlines "some habits of being that can help us live with spirit, with a sense of identity, power, and purpose in a dispirited time and place."
The second is "In Case of Emergency, Ask Question: Finding Your Path In Life's Most Challenging Moments" by Lable Braun. It provides a practical method for navigating the most genuinely gut-wrenching of situations. A free PDF version is available to download only until 9pm eastern/6 pm pacific on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Worth checking out at http://www.andreajlee.com/blog/emergencyquestion/ A hard copy is available for presale (shipping January 26, 2009) $13.95 + shipping - click here to buy now: http://www.andreajlee.com/incaseofemergency/
